Even in the time before man, dark spirits walked the earth. Skoll became the first demon to take physical form by possessing the leftover skull of a once powerful triceratops, which earned him the name.
And like all demons, he preys upon the souls of the living by offering dark powers in exchange for live sacrifices, becoming stronger for each soul offering. But for a manifestation of pure evil, he's surprisingly sunny.
